Description

Ammonium chloride is a white, crystalline salt that is highly soluble in water. Solutions of ammonium chloride are mildly acidic.

Ammonium Chloride Uses

In addition to various industrial applications, ammonium chloride has a number of pharmaceutical and medical uses. These include use as a systemic acidifying agent in the treatment of severe metabolic alkalosis, in oral acid loading test to diagnose distal renal tubular acidosis, and to maintain the urine at an acid pH in the treatment of some urinary-tract disorders.
